ParaDigma strives to bring a wind of change to Finnish science by boldly promoting scholarly research into anomalous phenomena. In Finland, this conference is unique: there are no other scientific fora dealing with the unexplained that would be as grand and regular as ParaDigma.

In the fall of 2005, the ParaDigma conference will for the fourth time get together academic researchers of and others interested in the paranormal. ParaDigma 2005 will be held at the University of Tampere, in the city of Tampere. Those delivering a speech may attend the conference free of charge.

The programme of the conference will consist of lectures, two panel discussions, and an exhibition. We are expecting scholars from both abroad and Finland, as well as some domestic exhibitors. In addition, the ParaDigma schedule will incorporate extra items like a conference dinner. The official language of the symposium will be Finnish, but especially guests from abroad are welcome to use English.

The next ParaDigma is organized by a registered association called Finnish Network for Scientific Research on the Paranormal - ParaNet Finland. Under the subordination of this society, our ParaDigma committee (composed of eight individuals) makes all the arrangements.

Call for papers

Have you just finished, or are you about to finish a scientific study dealing with the theme of the ParaDigma 2005 conference? If you would like to present empirical findings, or theoretical or methodological conceptions to the Finnish public and scientific community, this may be your chance! We are offering researchers an opportunity to deliver a speech in this high-level scholarly conference. The lecturers will be selected on the basis of scientific full papers which they have submitted to us. The idea is that the written paper will be a scholarly article, whereas its oral presentation (at the conference) will be a popular lecture.

The abstract should be composed by observing regular scholarly conventions. It ought to be accompanied by some basic information (name, contact information, academic degree, main subject, profession, affiliation, as well as prior research) about the author that can be disclosed in the conference programme and published with the article. When writing and sending the full paper, one must follow the "requirements for manuscripts" in ParaDocs. You can also view articles from previous ParaDigma conferences in that journal.

Welcome to Tampere!
